Crispy baked apple chips dusted with cinnamon

Ingredients

  • 2 apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Method

  1. Slice the apples paper thin.
  2. Dust both sides with cinnamon.
  3. Bake at 225°F (110°C) for about 2 hours, flipping halfway.
  4. Cool completely on the tray so they crisp further.

Why this recipe works

  • Uniform thin slices are everything. A mandoline earns its keep here — thick slices stay chewy while thin ones burn.
  • Low and slow is non-negotiable. Rushing the oven temperature gives you browned outsides and leathery middles.
  • They crisp up as they cool, so pull them when they still feel slightly pliable. They will firm into chips on the tray.
