How We Test Our Recipes
No recipe reaches WellNest until it has earned its place. Here is the honest, step-by-step account of how every recipe on this site is developed, tested, and verified — so you know exactly what stands behind the food you make.
Every recipe is tested more than once
Each recipe goes through the WellNest test kitchen at least twice before publishing. The first pass checks that the recipe works as written: ingredients combine the way we describe, timings hold, and the result tastes the way we promise. The second pass is a cold re-test — we make it again from the written instructions alone, exactly as you would, to catch anything we assumed but never said.
If a recipe fails either pass, it goes back for revision. We would rather delay a recipe than publish one we would not serve ourselves.
What "3-ingredient" actually means
When we call a recipe "3-ingredient," we count the ingredients you have to buy and measure. We do not count water, salt, or basic pantry oil unless the amount meaningfully changes the recipe. The full ingredient list is always shown on the recipe page — what you see is everything you need.
How we estimate nutrition
Calorie and protein figures on our recipes are honest estimates calculated from standard nutrition data for each ingredient, divided per serving. They are marked with ≈ because real ingredients vary — your banana is not our banana. Use them as a guide, not a lab report.
How we evaluate substitutions
When we suggest a substitution, it is because we tried it or because the food science is unambiguous (frozen mango behaves like frozen pineapple in a blender; almond milk behaves like oat milk in overnight oats). We never suggest a swap we would not make in our own kitchen.
Our kitchen picks
Product recommendations on WellNest come from tools we actually reach for when testing. Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate, WellNest earns from qualifying purchases — if you buy through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend.
Corrections
If you try a recipe and something is off, tell us at [email protected]. We re-test every report and update the recipe page with a new "Last updated" date when we fix something. The date stamps on our pages are real — they change only when the content genuinely changes.
What WellNest is
WellNest is a small, independent recipe publisher. We are a faceless team — no celebrity chef, no personal brand — because we believe the food should carry the weight. Our promise is simple: tested recipes, honest numbers, and no filler.
