Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
- Whisk the matcha powder with a splash of warm water until smooth and frothy.
- Stir in the honey until it dissolves completely into the warm matcha.
- Fill a tall glass with ice and pour the matcha over it.
- Top with cold milk, give it a stir, and serve immediately.
Why this recipe works
- Whisk concentrated, not diluted. Matcha clumps when it hits a full glass of cold milk. Whisking it first with just a splash of warm water gives you that smooth, frothy base every time.
- Honey goes in warm. Honey barely dissolves in iced milk. Stirring it into the warm matcha means no syrupy layer sitting at the bottom of your glass.
- Ice before milk. Pouring the matcha over ice first, then the milk, creates those café-style layers — and the final stir blends it into a creamy, even green.
